Tony Wood is Arkansas’ new education commissioner. Prior to his appointment, which began July 1, he served as the state’s deputy commissioner.
Mr. Wood also worked as the deputy superintendent in the Little Rock school system and has served as the superintendent of two other districts in the state. He began his career in education as a biology and chemistry teacher.
He succeeds Tom Kimbrall, who left the state’s top K-12 job to take over the Bryant district in Arkansas.
Stephen E. Brock became the president of the National Association of School Psychologists on July 1.
He is a professor and coordinator of the school psychology program at California State University, Sacramento. Previously, he worked as a school psychologist with the Lodi, Calif., district.
