Teaching Kids to Change the World: Lessons to Inspire Social Responsibility for Grades 6-12

BRIC ARCHIVE

The authors, Chris Maser, a research scientist in natural history and ecology, and Jennifer Griffin-Wiesner, an expert in youth development, furnish the book with hands-on activities and experiments.

For example, one experiment involves visiting a local water-treatment plant to learn about substances discharged into the water supply; or dyeing flowers with food coloring to observe what happens when new elements are introduced into the atmosphere.

The chapters are categorized by eight “principles of change,” including “Act Locally and Affect the Whole World” and “Ecology and Economy are Each of Half of the House We Live In.”

The book is available for purchase ($24.95) in bookstores or online at ipgbook.com.
