“Community Colleges and Teacher Preparation: Roles, Issues, and Opportunities” is posted by the Education Commission of the States.

Teacher education in community colleges should be viewed as a four-year process that combines content and pedagogical training over that time, says a report that is the outcome of a meeting between the Education Commission of the States and the National Center for Teaching Transformation.

The report explores the expanding and evolving role community colleges are playing in teacher preparation to help meet the demand for high-quality teachers. It recommends that program and course development be a collaborative process that includes universities, community colleges, and the K-12 sector.
