“Schools Can’t Wait: Accelerating the Redesign of University Principal Preparation Programs” is posted by the Southern Regional Education Board.

State education agencies, policymakers, university leaders, and school district officials need to do a better job to improve training programs for principals, a report argues.

The report by the Atlanta-based Southern Regional Education Board lists steps that school leaders should take to improve the quality of school leadership programs, especially those for principals. The measures include setting up state commissions to plan and oversee the redesign of training for school leaders, and requiring universities and school districts to work in partnership to select principal-candidates and improve the course content in training programs.
