The Montgomery County, Md., school board has agreed to bar the discussion of specific religious beliefs in health education courses and pay $36,000 in legal fees to two parent groups that sued over changes to the district’s sex education curriculum. The settlement last month stipulates that the board will reorganize the Citizens Advisory Committee on Family Life and Human Development to serve as a consulting body for future revisions.
