Newark Public Schools received the Association of School Business Officials’ International Meritorious Budget Award for the district’s 2008-2009 budget.
The award recognizes excellence in school budget presentation, including transparency in budget presentation and a commitment to high standards of school budgeting.
The award also recognizes that the district created clear budget presentation guidelines, used state-of-the-art budget practices, encouraged short- and long-term budget goals, promoted sound fiscal management practices, encouraged effective use of education resources, and facilitated professional development for its budget staff.
