Robert E. Schiller recently became a state relations consultant for the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence.
Mr. Schiller, 57, who served as the Illinois state superintendent of education until this fall, will help the board in its efforts to expand the adoption of its alternative teacher-certification program.
The ABCTE is a Washington-based nonprofit organization that provides a certification based on classroom effectiveness and subject-area knowledge.
