More than 300 Frederick County, Md., business representatives and public school employees last week launched the Academic Business Connection, Partnership Directory, an online tool that allows schools to post requests for guest speakers, field trips, and workshops. Businesses can offer their resources, time, and personnel support, as well as track their community contributions and employee volunteer work.
ABC is a joint project of the county’s school system, chamber of commerce, and business roundtable for education. The directory is expected to benefit classrooms by increasing the availability of timely and hands-on educational opportunities, and businesses can build relationships to grow their future workforce.
