Not Fading Away

John C. Fryer, the retired Air Force major general who headed the Duval County, Fla., public schools, has been named the president and chief executive officer of the National Institute for School Leadership. The institute, which provides executive training for principals, has been a program of the Washington-based National Center on Education and the Economy, but is set to become a separate, for-profit venture next month.
