President Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act may not have much of a shot in a Congress bent on reigning in spending, but the National Education Association is trying to give the legislation some momentum anyway.

The union is running ads in media markets in five states supporting the legislation, including Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas and the District of Columbia.

Here’s a preview of the ad:

If the ad looks familiar, it’s because it’s almost identical to an ad the union ran to advertise the legislation that created the Education Jobs Fund, also known as Edujobs. That legislation included $10 billion to stave off teacher layoffs. The American Jobs Act would provide $30 billion to save and create education jobs, plus $25 billion in new money for school modernization and repair.
