Alice Seagren was unanimously confirmed Jan. 20 by the Minnesota Senate as the state’s commissioner of education. The 62-0 vote for Ms. Seagren was a sharp contrast to the rejection last summer by the Democratic-controlled Senate of Cheri Pierson Yecke, who was Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s previous choice for the job.
