Mark Baldassare was recently named the president and chief executive officer of the San Francisco-based Public Policy Institute of California, a nonprofit organization that conducts research on economic, social, and political issues in the state. Mr. Baldassare, 55, was previously the director of research at the Public Policy Institute of California.
