In-Service Prayers

The 340-student Devalls Bluff, Ark., school district unconstitutionally mixed church and state by holding mandatory teacher-training meetings that featured prayers, including by the superintendent, a three-judge panel of the 8th Circuit Court has ruled. Finding in favor of art teacher Steve Warnock, the panel unanimously held on Aug. 24 that the district crossed the line into government endorsement of religion.
