“Revolutionizing Earth System Science Education for the 21st Century” is posted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of Education.

Few states have adequately integrated a climate, weather, and ocean-studies program into their schools’ curricula, according to a report.

The study, financed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and conducted by Cambridge, Mass.-based TERC, a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve science, math, and technology education, found that only 18 states included current technology, such as satellite imagery, in their earth science programs. Many states also lacked sufficient education on ocean literacy, the atmosphere, weather, and climate, according to the authors. Researchers analyzed each state’s K-12 earth science standards for the study.
