Carmita P. Vaughan, the former chief of staff of the Chicago public schools’ office of high schools and high school programs, has taken her expertise to the America’s Promise Alliance. Starting April 1, Ms. Vaughan will serve as the nonprofit organization’s chief strategy officer. The Washington-based group, founded by former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, is organizing dropout-prevention summits across the nation.
