Court Order Revisited

Two civil rights groups filed a motion in the U.S. Eastern District Court of Texas Feb. 6 asking the court to require Texas to better monitor programs for English-language learners. The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Multicultural Education, Training, and Advocacy Inc. argue that the state is not meeting its promise to effectively implement programs for students with limited English as it promised after a 1981 ruling.
