The Springfield, Va.-based National Right to Work Committee has dropped its lawsuit against the California Teachers Union over members’ dues. The group had argued that the union improperly used a recent $60 dues increase to fight three failed ballot initiatives, including one that would have made public-employee unions get annual written approval from members to spend dues for political action. The cta has returned the money to nonmember teachers. The Landmark Legal Foundation, a legal-advocacy group based in Leesburg, Va., has also dropped a similar complaint against the cta to the California Public Employment Relations Board.
