Bob Wise, who just wrapped up a term as the governor of West Virginia, is the new president of the Alliance for Excellent Education.
Mr. Wise, 57, served as governor from 2001 until last month. A Democrat, he also served nine terms as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and two years as a state senator.
The Washington-based Alliance for Excellent Education is an advocacy organization that seeks to improve educational opportunities for disadvantaged, low-performing secondary school students.
