With thousands of provisional ballots still left to count, and the probability of a recount, the race for North Carolina’s next state superintendent of public instruction was still undecided late last week. An unofficial result of the contest between Democrat June Atkinson and Republican Bill Fletcher is expected this week, and the vote is set to be certified Nov. 23.
