The Manville Corporation--one of the nation’s leading asbestos suppliers--is currently being reorganized in bankruptcy court. Lawyers say that the claim form is the one means that school districts3have to attempt to recover the costs of asbestos cleanup and property damage from Manville.

Manville officials mailed a blank form to every elementary and secondary school in the country late this past summer. Completed forms should be returned to the United Merchants Information Service Inc., P.O. Box 368, Teaneck, N.J. 07666.

Questions or problems concerning the claims form or the Manville reorganization proceedings should be addressed to the Creditors Committee for Asbestos-Related Property Damage School Claimants at its new toll-free number, (800) 458-4600. Copies of the form can be obtained from the committee or from Manville at (800) 445-4000.
