Mock Election 2008
American youth don’t have to wait until they turn 18 to rock the vote, students from kindergarten to college can participate in the 2008 Mock Election. The National Association of Broadcasters Educational Foundation in partnership with the National Student/Parent Mock Election provide free resources that enable schools, in collaboration with radio and television stations, to simulate an election complete with press coverage.
NSPME provides educators with access to a teacher-friendly guide, which highlights issues and outlines the election process. The Teacher’s Guide provides lesson plans and activities or participating schools can design their own programs. Enrollment is free through the NSPME. Participating schools typically hold elections shortly before their state’s primary. Check out a sneak-peak at New Hampshire’s results.
