The Finance Project and the Annie E. Casey Foundation have released a new, collaborative federal funding guide that can help school leaders, government officials, and organizations identify, obtain, and efficiently use money to help improve reading proficiency.

The nearly 200-page manual provides information on 103 federal funding sources in seven cabinet-level departments and three independent agencies that can help groups achieve policy and program goals such as increasing the number of low-income students who can read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade.

The guide identifies federal funds that can be used to address the root causes of children’s illiteracy, which include access to medical care, remediation practices, and summer-learning loss. It also allows users to search by funding purpose, eligibility and special populations.
