Nancy DeFord began a one-year term this month as president of the Alexandria, Va.-based Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, a nonprofit professional development organization for educators. Ms. DeFord is a retired superintendent, who ran the 4,300-student Park City Public Schools in Utah from 1996 to 2003.
