Boston Makes Offer Official

The Boston school board has approved its search committee’s recommendation to hire Manuel J. Rivera, the superintendent of the Rochester, N.Y., schools, as Boston’s next superintendent. In a unanimous vote Oct. 4, the board backed the choice of the search committee that has been seeking a replacement for Thomas W. Payzant, who retired in June.
