The majority of advertising in schools is paid for or sponsored by companies that sell “junk food,” according to a national survey by the Arizona State University Commercialism in Education Research Unit.

Using a random poll of 391 school officials in from public elementary, middle, and high schools, the survey estimates that between 26.6 million and 30.3 million students are exposed in school to advertising of foods of minimal nutritional value or foods high in fat and sugar.
