In a survey late last year of 696 registered California voters, the Field Poll found widespread support for a proposal to curb bilingual education in state schools.
| Would vote yes | Would vote no | Undecided | |
| Statewide | 69% | 24% | 7% |
| White (non-Hispanic) | 71 | 22 | 7 |
| Latino | 66 | 30 | 4 |
| Black/African-American* | 71 | 22 | 7 |
| Asian/Other* | 55 | 35 | 10 |
*Small sample sizes
Results from the overall sample have a potential sampling error of plus or minus 3.6 percent. Subgroups could yield higher sampling errors.
