Loraine Richardson Green, the first black woman appointed to serve on the Chicago board of education, died Jan. 9 at her home in Chicago. She was 107.

Ms. Green served on the board from 1958 to 1969. She was a 1919 graduate of the University of Chicago and the widow of Cook County Circuit Judge Wendell E. Green.
