The teaching credentials of Peggy Ann Buckey, a former defendant in a highly publicized child-molestation case in Manhattan Beach, Calif., were reinstated last month.

Ms. Buckey has begun working as a special-education teacher at the Trident Center of the Anaheim Union High School District.

She helps students between the ages of 16 and 19 who have learning and communication disorders, according to Cynthia6Grennan, the superintendent of the district.

In 1984, Ms. Buckey was one of seven employees of the Virginia McMartin Preschool to be charged with 135 counts of sexual abuse and conspiracy.

The charges against Ms. Buckey and four other teachers were dropped in 1986, after District Attorney Ira Reiner of Los Angeles concluded that there was insufficient evidence to convict them.

Ms. Buckey’s brother, Raymond Buckey, and her mother, Peggy McMartin Buckey, are still being tried on charges of molestation and conspiracy.
