Paul Salmon Killed in Plane Crash

Paul B. Salmon, who served as executive director of the American Association of School Administrators from 1971 until he retired last April, was killed Aug. 2 in the crash of Delta Airlines flight 191 in Dallas.

Mr. Salmon, 66, had spoken to a group in Miami the day of the accident and was scheduled to address a technology conference in Dallas the following day.

Since his retirement from the aasa, Mr. Salmon had held the Irving Melbo Chair in educational administration at the University of Southern California, where he had earlier earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in education. In 1984 he was awarded an honorary doctorate of human letters by Whittier College. Before joining the administra-tors’ group, Mr. Salmon served as superintendent of schools in Pasadena and Sacramento, Calif.
