With Apple on the brain today, thought I’d finally getting around to blogging about this....
If you’ve passed an Apple store in the last couple of months (as I do every day on my way to work), you’ve probably noticed the life-size cutouts of bright-eyed young teachers hanging around in the display windows. Turns out Apple is collecting used iPads to donate to Teach for America teachers in low-income schools.
The educational benefits of iPads are being touted left and right. So this seems like a good deal for both the teachers and their students. But it’s worth asking: Is Apple stepping into a hornet’s nest by teaming up with the ever-controversial Teach for America? Will this make TFA critics think twice about buying Apple products? Or are people looking past the organization’s name that is funneling the resources into classrooms to see that giving students access to technology is all-in-all a good thing? As always, we’re interested in hearing your thoughts.
