A federal judge in Orlando, Fla., last week allowed graduation ceremonies for four public high schools to go forward in a large Christian church, despite a lawsuit brought by Americans United for Separation of Church and State on behalf of parents and a student. The judge said the May 18 suit against the 75,000-student Brevard County district could proceed, but that it had been filed too late for him to forbid the district to hold the ceremonies, which were slated for May 19-21.
