Karolyn Belcher, the president of TNTP, will step down in April after three years at the helm of the teacher-policy and -recruitment group.
Belcher worked as a science teacher in New Orleans as part of Teach For America and later joined its national staff. She also founded the John A. Reisenbach Charter School in New York state.
Cheryl Logan, the chief academic officer for the Philadelphia district, will become the new superintendent of the Omaha school system, the largest in Nebraska.
Before working in Philadelphia, Logan worked as a principal and a teacher in Maryland.
Lamont Repollet, the superintendent of schools in Asbury Park, N.J., has been tapped as that state’s next education commissioner.
Repollet was previously a high school principal and a middle school teacher.
Jeff Riley, the state-appointed superintendent of the Lawrence, Mass., turnaround district for the past six years, has been selected as Massachusetts’ new commissioner of education.
He started his career in education as a Teach for America corps member and also served as a school principal in Boston.
