Once ranked last in the nation for reading achievement, Mississippi has successfully transformed its trajectory over the past several years. Since 2013, the state has focused on improving reading outcomes with notable results. Fourth grade reading scores rose by ten points; the state showed more growth in reading than any other state. It also was one of the few states whose reading scores recovered after school closures.

Fueled by the efforts of former State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Carey Wright, “The Mississippi Miracle” has become a model for states and districts working to adopt new reading standards and improve student outcomes.

Join us to hear Dr. Wright discuss how Mississippi became a leader in reading recovery and essential strategies to drive your district’s reading achievement.

Gain critical insights into:

  • How to navigate new state-wide early literacy policies to improve reading outcomes
  • Where to focus efforts on literacy with more rigorous standards
  • Best practices for communicating new initiatives for all stakeholders
  • Key areas to invest in science of reading training for educators
  • Ways to monitor progress, track efforts, and adjust to ensure desired outcomes
