President Trump has cut U.S. Department of Education staffing in half; terminated scores of key grants and contracts; and sent the message to schools and universities that their funding is at risk if they continue diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programming and allow transgender girls to complete on girls’ teams.

The president’s first budget proposal includes a 15% cut to the Education Department and a shakeup of many of its programs and funding streams. And as this dizzying pace of change continues, dozens of legal challenges raise questions about what will stick and what won’t.

What’s the status of the president’s key education initiatives, and how much attention should school and district leaders pay to these frequent policy shifts?

Join Education Week journalists as we discuss the most consequential changes and sort through where they stand.

Please bring your questions. We’ll leave time for Q&A.
