Discover how to design authentic engineering learning experiences for your middle and high school students that reflect how engineers work and think. In this webinar, three educators will guide you through creating meaningful challenges that help students build a problem-solving mindset through open-ended design and using math, science, and technology to develop, test, and refine solutions.

Learn how interdisciplinary, hands-on projects engage students in authentic engineering practices, including problem definition, prototyping, data analysis, and iteration within real-world constraints. Speakers will share strategies for creating learning environments where students are engaged in building technical knowledge alongside transferable skills, such as collaboration, communication, and resilience.

After this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify the core elements of rigorous, project-based engineering experiences in grades 9-12
  • Facilitate student creation of engineering artifacts, including prototypes, models, and technical documentation
  • Use structured reflection and portfolios to document design decisions, iteration, and growth over time
  • Apply practical ideas to create engineering experiences that connect students to community and world impact
