Chris Cerf, New Jersey’s education commissioner since 2010, will leave that position Feb. 28 to take a job at Amplify, a company that creates digital products for schools. He will become the CEO of Amplify Insight, which oversees the company’s assessments.

He also served as New York City’s deputy chancellor, under then-Chancellor Joel I. Klein, who now runs Amplify.

Richard M. Long, the Washington-based government-relations director for the International Reading Association, stepped down from his post Jan. 31 after 35 years. He will become the president of Literate Nation, a San Francisco-based nonprofit designed to build broad-based literacy leadership.

Julie Young announced her retirement this month as the president and CEO of the Florida Virtual School. In 1997, she launched the school, which became the first, and largest, state-sponsored online school in the country.
