The superintendent of the Bruceville-Eddy school district in Texas has resigned, following his arrest for allegedly placing a hidden video camera in a women’s restroom in the school administration building.

The school board of the 900-student district accepted Dan Doyen’s resignation on Nov. 28. Board members, at the urging of parents, also said they would inquire whether Mr. Doyen legally could be barred from the school grounds he has overseen since July 2002.

Mr. Doyen remains free on bail after his arrest last month on charges of improper photography or visual recording. The crime is punishable by up to two years in a state jail. Mr. Doyen told investigators for the McLennan County sheriff’s office that he used a school credit card to buy a camera disguised to look like an air-freshener dispenser, then placed it in an administration-office restroom to obtain nude photos of women, according to court documents.
