Richard A. Ungerer is the new executive director of the American Montessori Society.
Mr. Ungerer, 58, previously served as the president and chief executive officer of the I Have A Dream Foundation, a New York City-based organization that provides college-preparatory tutoring and mentoring for children in low-income areas.
The American Montessori Society, also based in New York, supports and develops Montessori programs, which emphasize education approaches that are tailored to students’ individual needs. It has 9,000 members nationwide.
