A report suggests there is some confusion about who is primarily responsible for organizing the professional-development activities of teachers.
Roughly 50 percent of principals surveyed said they believe they are primarily responsible, according to a study conducted by the Syracuse, N.Y.-based Hezel Associates. The report says that 42 percent of superintendents, meanwhile, felt it was their responsibility, rather than principals, to make decisions about professional development. The study surveyed 1,400 teachers, principals, and superintendents nationwide.
