The Senate has confirmed Lauren Maddox to be the Department of Education’s assistant secretary for communications and outreach. She won confirmation by voice vote on Sept. 21.
At the department, Ms. Maddox, 48, will be in charge of press relations, publications, and communications with education groups and the general public.
For the past six years, Ms. Maddox has been a principal for PodestaMattoon, a Washington-based lobbying and public relations firm. Previously, she worked as an aide to Republican leaders in the House.
