Most young people in the United States think positively about their futures, but they also suffer from stress, make poor health choices, and feel unsafe in their communities, according to a poll released this month by the Alexandria, Va.-based America’s Promise-The Alliance for Youth.

The poll, which surveyed more than 1,200 young people ages 10 to 17, found that 95 percent of youth have established personal lifetime goals and 88 percent are confident that they’ll have a “good-paying” job as an adult. But 42 percent are uncertain if they will be able to successfully achieve their goals. In addition, 67 percent felt “a lot of stress,” and more than 50 percent admitted to not leading a healthy lifestyle.
