Quib.ly officially launched today as a new social media platform with the goal of helping parents sort out the ever-changing world of technology available to their children.
A self-guided tour of Quib.ly finds that parents, Quib.ly staff and outside experts are being asked to answer questions about how technology affects children, and which technologies are recommended for kids.
Right now, most of the answers for the London-based website come from U.K. users, with a smattering of U.S. parental input. But the site knows no global boundaries, so feel free to weigh in, if you are so inclined.
Parents can post questions in various categories, including safety and privacy, apps, social media, education, and the digital future.
Among the interesting questions we discovered during a quick site review of 16 topic areas were these:
- Should schools harness social media?
- Are software developers replacing your child’s imagination?
- Can kids beat adults at coding?
- What are teachers’ main concerns with technology adoption in the classroom?
- Are typing skills more important than handwriting?
Let us know what you think of Quib.ly’s model for keeping parents connected to technology’s evolving impact on children, and on their ability to learn and thrive, in an increasingly high-tech world.
