Linda Bennett has been selected as the editor of Social Studies and the Young Learner, the National Council for the Social Studies’ official journal for elementary social-studies educators. Ms. Bennett replaces Sherry Field, who is retiring as editor after 10 years.
Ms. Bennett is an associate professor in the department of learning, teaching, and curriculum at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her first issue will be the September/October 2006 edition.
The Silver Spring, Md.-based NCSS is an umbrella organization for teachers, curriculum supervisors, and teacher-educators in the social studies. It has 26,000 members.
