Leslie E. Bains has been named the president of afs International, a nonprofit student-exchange organization based in New York City.
Ms. Bains, 61, who previously served as a senior executive vice president of domestic private banking and wealth management for hsbc Bank USA in New York City, succeeds Paul Shay, who left afs in December to become the executive director of the Manchester, N.H.-based first, which designs science, technology, and engineering programs for students.
