The Educational Testing Service, of Princeton, N.J., has won a five-year contract to design, analyze, and report information for the National Assessment of Educational Progress, commonly known as “the nation’s report card.”
ETS’ current, five-year contract to do that work is expiring. The new contract is valued at about $91 million over the five years, according to the Institute of Education Sciences, the research and statistical division of the U.S. Department of Education, which will administer the contract.
The new agreement with the ETS, a nonprofit research and testing organization, is actually three separate contracts, to cover duties such as test-item development, reporting of test results, and coordination with other groups to conduct NAEP work, ETS officials said in a statement. ETS officials say the organization has worked as a contractor or grant recipient for NAEP work since 1983.
