“What American Teens and Adults Know About Economics,” is available for review online by the National Council on Economic Education. ()

Boys tend to know more about economics than girls do, a new study indicates, though neither sex had many high scorers on a quiz of such knowledge.

The study, released last week by the New York City-based National Council on Economic Education, surveyed 3,500 adults and 2,200 high school students between Jan. 12 and Feb. 10 of this year. Of the students surveyed, only 266, or 12 percent, received an A or B grade on the 24-question economics quiz that accompanied the survey. Sixty-six percent of the students who received an A or a B on the quiz were boys.
