A phrase in a sample SAT question in the July 10, 2002, issue of Education Week (“The New-Look SAT”), was incorrectly marked. It should have read, “The diving suit enabled marine biologist Sylvia Earle to explore the seafloor at 1,250 feet and she could ascend without stopping for decompression.”

The last line of the Commentary by Davy McClay in the same issue was inadvertently dropped (“A Bogus Bonus?”). The final paragraph should have read:
“So the practice of giving teachers cash bonuses based on their students’ performance on normative tests is not needed and unjustified. In truth, the fact that we educators can receive monetary rewards for score increases earned through a process that shortchanges our students and deprives them of the curricular foundation they need for the future is a very sad irony.”
