Colo. State Board Member Resigns After Theft Charge

November 09, 2004 1 min read

Christine Baca, a member of the Colorado state board of education, was charged last month with bank theft and computer crime at the bank where she worked from July 2002 to August 2004, according to a statement from the state board.

Ms. Baca, who worked at the Denver Bank in Denver, submitted her resignation from the state school board effective Nov. 3, the statement said. She has not issued a statement of her own addressing the criminal charges.

The former state board member voluntarily surrendered on her arrest warrant and was expected to be released on a $2,500 personal-recognizance bond, the board statement said.

A committee representing the state’s 7th Congressional District plans to name a replacement, and that replacement will serve until the next regular election.
