Students ranked a school’s strength in their intended major as the most important reason for selecting a college, according to a study.
The report, conducted by Boston-based Eduventures, a consulting firm that provides research and analysis for the education market, found that ninety percent of high school juniors and 92 percent of high school seniors have identified their primary field of interest before applying to college. Students were also influenced by the college’s reputation, its overall academic program, its career preparation, and its affordability. The study gathered data from roughly 8,000 high school juniors and seniors.
