Camille Cosby, the wife of the comedian Bill Cosby, has donated $2 million to a Roman Catholic high school in Baltimore that serves girls from needy families.

St. Frances Academy, run by the Oblate Sisters of Providence, an order of black nuns, will use the money to pay for 16 endowed scholarships to cover the $6,300 annual tuition. Students receiving the money will be called Camille Cosby Scholars.

Thomas J. Nealis, the director of development and academy relations at the 325-student school, said the donation would help it reach its goal of allowing about 40 students to attend tuition-free each year. A $125,000 donation from the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus financed an additional student.

Ms. Cosby has never visited the school, but has made previous donations to the Oblate Sisters and as a child attended a now-defunct school in Washington that was run by the order.
